Camden teacher and children's author Andrew Scott will appear on 5's Milkshake! Story Den on 11 September.

Andrew, a teacher at Rhyl Community Primary School, was chosen as one of six teachers from across the UK to take part in Feature Your Teacher, a special initiative from 5's preschool programming block, Milkshake!, celebrating teachers who inspire a love of reading in young children.

Launched as part of the UK's National Year of Reading, the initiative invited teachers from across the country to share their passion for storytelling with preschool audiences.

Alongside his role at Rhyl Community Primary School, Andrew is also a published children's author. His book, Billy the Brave: The World's First Superhero, follows a young hero's adventure through the dinosaur era and was written to support children's literacy by incorporating vocabulary, grammar and punctuation from the National Curriculum.

Andrew Scott said: "One of my favourite moments in any school day is reading to my class. Seeing children become completely immersed in a story and letting their imaginations run free is what makes reading so special. I firmly believe that reading for pleasure can open up a world of opportunities for children, so it was a real privilege to take part in Milkshake! Story Den and hopefully inspire more young readers to discover the joy of books."

In his episode of Milkshake! Story Den, Andrew will read The Big Bad Bug. Catch Andrew's episode of Milkshake! Story Den on 5's Milkshake! on 11 September, or stream it afterwards on 5.
