Jack Petchey awards - nominate a young person who is making a difference to the environment

The new Jack Petchey Environmental Award are extending nominations until 15 January 2023.

You can nominate a young person you know is making a positive impact on the environment for an award, and they will then be eligible to apply for an Environmental Award Grant of up to £300. So far, the Jack Petchey Foundation have made over 90 awards and received more than 40 grant applications - and they want to give out even more.

This new award is a chance for teachers, youth workers, parents or local residents to nominate a young person they know who is making a positive impact on the environment. This could be a wide range of things, such as volunteering in a community garden, heading up their school’s Eco Council, campaigning to protect the environment, litter picking and much more.

Winners must be aged 11 to 25 and live in London or Essex. Their nominations are assessed by young people. Winners are awarded a special badge, a certificate, a letter from Sir Jack Petchey and given the opportunity to apply for an Environmental Award Grant of up to £300 to spend on an environmental project of their choice.

How do I nominate a young person?
Simply fill in this form on the website to nominate a young person you know who is doing great things for the environment – and pass on the form to teachers, volunteers, and families in your network to do the same. The Jack Petchey Foundation want to recognise as many young people as possible.

What is the Environmental Award Grant and how do I apply?
Once awarded an Environmental Award, an Environmental Award winner can apply for a grant of up to £300 for a project with an organisation they know to help improve the environment. This could be £300 for their school or youth group to improve their garden facilities or fund a trip, or for a project with any registered charity.
