Free paddlesport sessions at The Pirate Castle for ages 8 to 17

Camden’s iconic boating charity, The Pirate Castle, is delighted to offer opportunities for young Londoners from across the capital to access kayaking, canoeing, fun and adventure on the Regent’s Canal for free.

This is thanks to funding from the Go! London Partnership – made up of the Mayor of London, Sport England, the London Marathon Foundation and London Sport. The details of these free sessions are:

  • The free sessions will run on Sundays, 2pm to 3.30pm, from 4 February until 27 October 2024 (including school holidays)
  • Ideal for beginners
  • All sessions are run by The Pirate Castle's British Canoeing instructor team
  • A maximum of 16 spaces are available per session, with pre-booking essential.

The sessions will run from The Pirate Castle, Gilbey’s Wharf, Oval Road, London, NW1 7EA. These sessions are targeted at young Londoners aged 8 to 17 who meet Go! London’s eligibility criteria. Email info@thepiratecastle.org or call 020 7267 6605 for more information and to book. 

Schools and community groups

The Pirate Castle is also offering a limited number of free introductory paddlesport sessions for state schools and voluntary groups from across London throughout 2024. Youth (ages 8 to 17) and young adult (ages 18 to 25) sessions are available, with a maximum group size of 32. Subject to funding and availability.
