Camden Youth MP Election 2026

Young people go to the polls in April 2026 to elect a new Camden Youth MP and two Deputy Youth MPs. If you're aged 13 to 19, live in Camden, go to school or college in the borough or work here, and you want to stand as a candidate, you need to apply by 30 January.

Youth MP, Deputy Youth MPs and their role

Zarin Bakhshzaad was elected as Camden Youth MP 2024-26. Niesha Akyeampong, 14, and Harvey O'Brien, are the borough’s Deputy Youth MPs for 2024-26. They were elected for two years. Find out more here.

Our Youth MP and Deputy Youth MPs are the voice for Camden young people, putting forward their interests in local decision-making, as well as representing the views and interests of local young people at regional and national level. They will:

  • lead Camden Youth Council
  • attend regional and national events
  • meet senior Council officers, councillors and other local decision-makers
  • visit schools and youth clubs
  • oversee the progress of the issues outlined by young people at the annual Camden Shout Out
  • represent the views of local young people at a range of council and community meetings, as well as at a national level at the UK Youth Parliament.
