Camden Summer Programme 2020 - Camden Rise

The school holidays may look and feel a bit different this year - but there's still lots to keep children, young people and families in Camden entertained, as well as advice and support on offer.

• Camden Summer University returns from Monday (27 July) and runs until 28 August. There are still some places available on the following courses: Journalism (week three), Light Painting (week five), Spoken Word (week five), Athletics (week five). Book now 
• This year’s Summer Programme for children, young people and families is published on the Camden Rise websiteand it will be updated throughout the early part of the summer with new activities - you can also download it here  
• Bloomsbury Football have a few spare places for week two of their holiday scheme, which is running at three locations in the borough. Find out more and book your places here
• Canoeing with the Pirate Castle: Children and young people aged eight and over can take part in a range of paddle sport and canal based activities boosting physical and social skills. Activities are adapted to comply with social distancing and group size Government guidelines. Find out more and book your places
• The Summer Reading Challenge is happening now, celebrating funny books, happiness and laughter for children aged four to 11. Join the Silly Squad and take the challenge today
• Wac Arts are running free online creative workshops and courses throughout August for young people of all abilities, aged 13 upwards, including those with mild to moderate special educational needs and disabilities. Activities include virtual theatre-making, gaming, singer-songwriting, musicianship and music technology. • Camden’s leisure centres, gyms and swimming pools have reopened to both members and non-members following the Government announcement that they are permitted to do so. Find out more here
• Camden Sport and Physical Activity Team are running a series of activities from Monday 3 August at Talacre Sports Centre, in Dalby Street, Kentish Town. Activities will include multi-sports programmes for ages 8 to 12 and gymnastics mini-camps for ages 4 to 8. Call the centre number on 020 7974 8765 or Ben on 020 7974 5892, or visit the website  
• The team is also running free girls-only multi-sports sessions at Talacre, called Girls Get Moving Mondays, for ages 8 to 14, on 10 and 17 August, from 4 to 6pm. Call Kirsty or Jenny on 0207 974 6294 / 2022, as well as Girls Get Moving Week from 24 to 28 August, 1 to 4pm each day, costing £16.50 for the whole week
• We have been working to make sure playgrounds and outdoor gyms can be opened safely. We began to reopen these spaces from 6 July. If you are using playgrounds or outdoor gyms please keep yourself and others safe and follow the guidance on our website here
• Careers and Connexions Service - summer drop-in service. If you're aged 16 to 19 and would like some help to find the right course or apprenticeship we will be offering access to careers advice and guidance throughout the summer with a virtual drop-in service you can access by calling us on 020 7974 7252 
• Mental health and wellbeing support: Kooth offers free, safe and anonymous online wellbeing and mental health support for young people aged 11 to 18. If you live in Camden, you can sign up now for confidential support through a text-based conversation with a qualified counsellor.
