‘Virtual Shout Out’ for young people to share experiences of lockdown

On Wednesday 6 May, Camden will hold the first ‘Virtual Shout Out’, bringing young people from across the borough together to share their experiences of being in lockdown.

Organised by Camden Youth Council and Youth Offending Service (YOS) Peer Advocates, this will be the first of two events which aim to encourage young people to give their views on the current pandemic and share with others what life has been like for them.

The second event will ask young people to discuss their hopes and plans for recovery after the lockdown is lifted.

Young people from across Camden are invited to join the forum as well as Councillors and Council staff so they can hear directly from young people in the borough on how the coronavirus outbreak is affecting them.

The Virtual Shout Out events will provide a safe platform for young people to connect with each other as well as share their experiences, both good and bad, with others.

Asma Maloumi, Deputy Youth MP for Camden, said:

"Now more than ever, the internet is our lifeline - not only connecting us to our friends and family but allowing us to keep in contact with vital support and advice ready at the tap of a screen when we need them most. Whether we need lockdown inspiration or tips about studying from home, we should all take advantage of and make the best of Camden’s variety of online services. Stay at home, stay connected!"

The first 'Virtual Shout Out' is on Wednesday 6 May at 2pm. This will be an event that any Camden young person can join and talk about their experiences of lockdown. Further information on the second event will be publicised shortly.
