Our latest virtual Youth Shout Out event on 11 June was all about education.

From the last two virtual Shout Out meetings, we knew that you would have a lot of questions and concerns about this subject so we wanted to give you a chance to talk about them in more depth.

As well as lively online discussions, we also had a Q&A session with education experts from Camden Learning, the Careers & Connections service and schools - including headteachers Gary Moore, of Regent High School, and Ruby Nasser, from Edith Neville Primary School.

Questions raised by young people ranged from concerns about the achievement gap and digital divide to issues around how schools will support children and young people both emotionally and academically as they return.

Young people in Camden aged 11 to 18 were invited to join the virtual Shout Out, which was held using Microsoft Teams (similar to Zoom).

The online discussion was run by Camden Youth Council and YOS Peer Advocates.

We were also joined by two members of Camden Council’s Cabinet – Cllr Angela Mason and Cllr Abdul Hai – who were able to address broader questions about Council support for schools and the recent Black Lives Matter campaign, which schools have supported with some excellent educational resources for students.
